In Chikwawa and Nsanje districts rural communities have little chance to speak about their concerns and participate in the districts’ development agenda.

Many communities are frequently hindered by social and economic development which has had wide-ranging negative impacts. This has also created a passive and non transformative society which has failed to question duty bearers and service providers when they fail to fulfil and deliver the promises they made.

Project Aims:

  • To educate communities on human rights issues relating to good governance and democracy.
  • To improve engagement between the community, duty bearers, service providers and relevant stakeholders to strengthen the capacities of the communities.
  • For communities to lobby for increased inclusivity, accountability, transparency and responsiveness of the duty bearers and service providers.
  • For communities to lobby for participation of vulnerable groups such as the youth, women, PLHIV and other marginalized groups in the decision-making process.
